Easy Side Hustles That Can Bring You Extra $1000 Every Month

Any side hustle can bring you a good amount of money if you give it enough time and effort.

How do I know?

I’ve got three side hustles that bring me over $1000 a month (each)…(and in British pounds as I live in the UK). I have turned my initial side hustle (blogging) into a full-time job and haven’t worked for anyone else in over 7 years. But I won’t mention blogging in this post, no worries.

However, I will give you 10 side hustle ideas that can earn you at least $1000 a month and require no additional qualifications on your end—just a desire to make them work.

Profitable Side Hustles That Can Pay You $1000 Monthly

Pet Sitting / Dog Walking

Two years ago, my husband and I had to travel unexpectedly and had to find someone to look after our dog. We were unable to find availability in any of the dog kennels (or dog hotels) in our area. That’s when we discovered that there is such a thing as pet sitting and dog walking.

And let me tell you, there are people out there making a full-time income playing with dogs all day, taking them for walks, and giving them treats. We paid over £400 to a young student who kept our cutie safe and happy for around a week.

You think £400 isn’t much? Imagine if she had another dog alongside ours. That’s £800 for a week (if you don’t live in the UK, that’s more than half a salary).

Depending on your experience with pets and how many good reviews you pile up over time, you can surely make way more than that as well.

The strongest season is summer, when it’s really hard to find availability in dog hotels. Also, many owners would prefer to place their pets in a home environment to avoid separation anxiety and to get regular updates on their pet’s adventures (we received plenty of photos of our Bella’s adventures during that week).

However, pet-sitting isn’t the only opportunity here. You can also offer dog-walking, house-sitting (where you stay at the pet owner’s house to look after their pets), doggy day care services, and drop-in visits (making sure a pet is doing well while the owner’s away, mostly used for cats).

  • The most trustworthy place to offer this kind of service is Rover, and that’s the site we used two years ago. Would definitely use them again. (available in both the UK and the USA)
  • Wag! is the next one in popularity, where you can sign up and offer your pet-sitting services. (available in the USA)
  • Care.com also offers a section for Pet Care, allowing you to provide any other type of care you’re willing to offer (increased opportunities).
  • PetBacker is an international pet sitting platform available in many countries around the world, so if you aren’t based in the UK or the USA, that’s your go-to place.

Audiobook Narrator / Voice Actor

Audiobooks have become so popular lately. People listen to them on their commute to work, moms listen to them while breastfeeding or rocking their babies to sleep, housewives listen to them while cleaning or cooking, and guys listen to them while crafting their next wood project in the garage or working on the car.

The demand for narrators is high because self-publishing has become a real avalanche lately. Logically, the more books are published, the greater the demand for narrators.

That’s where you step in!

If you have a clear and engaging voice that is pleasant to listen to, you can become an audiobook narrator and earn extra money by simply reading books out loud.

Of course, you will need relatively good recording equipment, including a good microphone and a pop filter, as well as a quiet place. I’ve literally seen narrators on TikTok do their narrating live in the late hours of the evening because it’s a bit quieter.

How much can you earn?

Before giving you the estimated earnings, remember that short books can be 3-5 hours long, but the average audiobook is 8-10 hours long.

Keeping that in mind, narrators can earn anywhere from $10 to $500 per finished hour (PFH), depending on their experience. Yes, you may start at a lower rate, but if you’re skilled at it, reaching the higher pay is a matter of a few well-done book narrations.

Where to start?

  • Voices.com is one of the easiest and most respected platforms where voice narrators “live”. You can create your profile for free and explore project opportunities immediately. Besides audiobooks, you can narrate multiple small projects such as online ads, short videos, and animations.
  • LibriVox is a place for free public domain audiobooks you can start with if you are a complete beginner and just want to dip a toe in the industry. By narrating a few works there, you can easily get feedback and see if you have a future in going ahead with this side hustle.
  • Upwork is another great platform to find customers for narrating jobs. Signing up is free, and you might be surprised at how respected and secure that platform is. I’ve used it in the past and would use it again if I need.
  • Fiverr is the world’s most famous platform for freelance jobs, including audio narrations, so make sure you check for opportunities there as well.

Transcription Services

Listening to audio or video recordings and converting them into written text is called “transcription”, and it is a great side hustle to have if you need extra income with no obligation to work hours.

There are so many different types of transcriptions, and before you go ahead and slap me with “But there are AI tools now that get the job done!”, let me tell you that human transcriptions are still a strong and preferred method for many well-paying companies.

You can do something easy, such as podcasts, interviews, lectures, and YouTube transcriptions, or go hard and offer your services for Medical or Legal transcriptions (you get paid more with these ones, but you may need a portfolio).

How much can you earn?

You get paid based on Words Per Minute (WPM), and you can earn anywhere from $200 – $600 per month as a beginner or $3000+ as an advanced transcriber with more experience.

Where to start?

  • Rev seems to be the most popular place to start for beginners. It offers both AI and human-based transcriptions, and it has competitive job opportunities every month.
  • GoTranscript is next on the line, and it also offers transcription proofreading as a service, so that’s another side hustle idea to link to the initial one.

AI Training and Reviewing

Yes, you can help train AI to perform better, and with the rise of AI platforms, this side hustle is quickly becoming one of the most profitable and desired side hustles. You need attention to detail and strong English skills to provide clear and structured feedback.

How much can you earn?

You can earn anywhere between $15 and $50/per hour, depending on the tasks you need to perform and your experience.

Where to start?

  • Remotasks – this is a site that allows you to do small tasks while training AI and get paid for it. You first need to undergo training, and there are three levels of task difficulty and payment.
  • Outlier.ai – if you are an expert in a field, there is a big chance your knowledge can be extremely valuable for training AI, and you can get paid for sharing that knowledge. Outlier gives you the opportunity to do just that. You have to go through an onboarding process where they would confirm your identity and expertise, and then you can move on to completing tasks and working on projects. You can see their list of open opportunities right now to find out if your knowledge is in demand.
  • DataAnnotation – From survey-style work to interacting with chatbots, data annotation is one of the most popular ways to earn extra money right now. You don’t need a specific background; just good English skills are required. There are thousands of projects available at all times to work on.

Selling AI-generated images, Videos, and Art

Instead of teaching AI, you can use it to create products on demand and sell them to customers. I recently purchased a bundle of over 600 AI photos for one of my businesses. It was affordable, and the seller had already sold the same bundle over 500 times, having done the job just once. Yes, creating 600 images with an AI tool would take a while, but it is a once-and-done kind of job, so it is worth a try.

You can sell your AI-generated files on places such as Etsy, Redbubble, or Creative Fabrica.

Flipping Items

Buying second-hand items from thrift shops or Facebook market and reselling them for profit is one of the most fun side hustles you can have, if you have the space for it. One example of such a business is finding good quality clothes and reselling them on eBay or Vinted. Same goes for vintage books (I’ve been doing that for the last 3 years), vintage items, or just second-hand household items.

If you are quick enough, you might catch house clearings with plenty of good furniture, books, items for close to nothing, and resell them with a huge profit.

There is no limit on how much you can make with this type of business, but I’d say that I’ve made more than $1000 per month by selling vintage books.

Delivery Services

I bet you knew about this one; it’s just so popular. DoordashDeliveroo, and Just Eat are a few of the food delivery companies that are always searching for people.

But food isn’t the only thing you can deliver part-time and have as a side hustle. Many of the big companies, such as Amazon, always need extra people to deliver packages to buyers, especially now with Amazon Prime, where many items must be delivered within 24 hours of purchase.

Your option is to either go for something big or search for opportunities with a more local delivery company, and see if they need your part-time help.

Selling Notion Templates

I used to be obsessed with Notion templates. I would search for the perfect one or try to tweak and create one of my own. At the beginning, most Notion templates were free to use. Lately, it is very common to have to pay a symbolic amount to get access to an especially well-made and functional template.

If you are good at learning new systems and have a talent for easily presenting ideas to people, creating functional Notion templates might be just the right side hustle for you. You can create anything from daily planners to life planners, project management templates, cookbooks, vision boards, and so much more.

Sell Canva Templates

Creating templates is kind of a trend lately, I know! The reason behind it is that social media and online marketing are truly in their prime, and the trend is to keep going that way for the years ahead.

Therefore, there is a constant demand for easier ways to organize one’s business, save time, and get the same awesome results. Templates are the easiest way to get to creating the content instead of wasting time with the design, because someone else has created the design for you.

Canva templates have been insanely popular for a very long time now. The program is super easy to learn, most templates are okay to use with Canva’s free membership, and are very affordable.

The best part is that you can also buy PLR products from Etsy and resell them as your own (I would, however, make slight changes to add some uniqueness and character). PLR (Private Label Rights) refers to digital products that you can legally resell, modify, and rebrand as your own. It’s a popular way to make money online because you don’t have to create content from scratch.

Yet another idea is for you to create such PLR products and sell them to other resellers, if that makes sense. B2B (Business To Business) is always a bit trickier than B2C (Business To Client), but once you have a few good reviews on your profile, things should escalate fairly quickly.

Become an Influencer

Yes, you can roll your eyes as much as you wish, but just the other day, one of my favorite creators mentioned that she got paid over $20 000 for a promotional video, and that’s only one of the deals she made.

Everyone WANTS to become an influencer, but not everyone CAN become such… or that’s what you think!

I strongly dislike the word “influencer” as it represents a culture of posh and sleazy creators that would sell their and my soul for a good paycheck. And I think that’s how most people see influencing as well.

But what I do want to become is someone who interacts with people on a subject, educates them, and helps them grow or learns alongside everyone else, but isn’t afraid to show that growth. And these are achievable goals that wouldn’t require me selling my soul to anyone.

I follow tens of such awesome people online, and I am so happy to see their growth. It is inspiring and motivating to see that normal people, like you and me, can actually add a few coins to their wallets while also interacting with others online.

It surely requires some thought on what you’d like to talk about (the algorithm seems to like it when you focus on one subject only), but if you are just a beginner, finding that niche is like rediscovering yourself once again.

It also needs work, analytical thinking (more than I’d like to admit), and openness, because people can smell fake stuff from miles away, and if you pretend to be someone you’re not, they will scroll away and find someone authentic instead.
