30-Day Grow Your Blog Challenge

This post is for you only if you are a blogger and are willing to make a living with your blog.

I am about to share with you a simple plan to grow your business for free, and it’s in the form of a 30-day grow your blog challenge.

I’ve been blogging for over four years, and I live out of the income of my two blogs. I also support my family and have hired an assistant to help me. I wouldn’t call myself a successful blogger, but I have the confidence I know a thing or two about blogging.

Both of my blogs attract over 200 000 visitors monthly; I have a FB group with 1000 members and an email list of just around 8000 subs (intentionally not growing at the moment)

And no, I am not trying to tell you how awesome I am.

In fact, most of the time, I struggle and question my strategies, just as any other blogger does.

For example, at this point, I am going through a major writer’s block and cannot type even a word on something related to both blogs.

Therefore, I decided to sit back and go for something different and intriguing enough, such as blogging about blogging.

However, I also know that the secret to blogging is consistency and working hard on your business. It is my posting day, and even though I can’t come up with anything good regarding self-care and self-development, I can definitely push myself and crack a post out.

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links, which means that if you sign up or make a purchase I might get a small commission at no extra cost to you. Thank you for supporting my business. See full disclosure.

This blogging challenge is for you if:

You already have a blog and have at least 5-10 blog posts on it.

Of course, you can start a blog and get to the challenge immediately. However, you might have to make a few adjustments on the way.

You already have a Pinterest account

One of my main traffic sources is Pinterest, and I focus the challenge around that social media too. I will help you get consistent with posting on Pinterest, yet I cannot talk of a strategy and ways to grow on Pinterest. If you are looking for a trusted resource, I strongly recommend looking at this course.

You are not consistent with your posts

This is the perfect challenge for you if you struggle with staying consistent with your posting schedule and you are not sure how to organize your time and tasks to get ahead with posting both on your blog and social media.

You are serious about blogging

The truth is that this 30-day challenge is actually a 30-day plan of how to work hard on your blog. It’s not a challenge to dip your toe in the blogging; it’s a way actually to get somewhere.

It requires your dedication and discipline, and in return, it gives you results.

This challenge is NOT for you if…

hands-typing-on-laptop

This challenge is not for you if you don’t have a blog yet. It won’t teach you how to open a blog or sign up with a hosting company. I am in the process of creating such a resource; for now, I recommend you this free email sequence on how to start your blog.

You also don’t need this challenge if you are consistent with your posting schedule and have an established routine.

This 30-day grow your blog challenge had a few benefits:

It will actually grow your blog

By the end of the challenge, you will have a posting system in place and a clear outline of how to organize your research, writing, and editing sessions.

The challenge is based on posting one blog post weekly on your blog.

However, if you stick to it and keep going with the same pace afterward, you could easily increase it to two blog posts a week the month after the challenge ends.

It will grow your social media presence

I will ask you to push on your Pinterest account initially, but I will also guide you to building up a social media posting routine before the end of the challenge.

If you struggle to cope with more than one social media account, that might be just the perfect challenge for you. Instead of attacking every social media out there, I ask you to work with two or three at most.

The first social media I truly believe you shouldn’t skip on is Pinterest. And if you’ve been blogging for more than 24 hours, you also know that Pinterest is the place for bloggers to grow. If you’ve been blogging for more than 48 hours, you’ve also realized that it isn’t easy to grow on Pinterest anymore.

One of the not-so-secret secrets is that Pinterest needs persistence and dedication. That is why the challenge starts from Pinterest and spread throughout the other social media. You will see what I mean in a minute.

The second and third social media are of your choice and depend on the presence you already have.

It will teach you how to stick to blogging

One of the most common problems bloggers face is staying consistent with blogging itself. You already have everyday tasks, kids, a full-time job, or school to attend. Your life is busy and hectic.

On top of that you decide to start a blog and make money with it. Great. But how do you stick to it?

Here’s the bitter truth. In most cases, you have the time to blog. You just don’t know that you waste it on something else.

I grew my first blog from 70 000 page views to over 200 000 page views in 7 months by simply sticking to waking up early and doing the most important stuff early enough in the day. The strategy you will see below is what got me there.

Before you start the blogging challenge… notes for you

  • The plan will get you to publish 4 posts in a month, one every week on the same day. If you would like to stick to a specific day of the week, just count back 6 days to establish your starting day.

For example, if you want to publish a new post every Tuesday, you want to start the challenge the previous Thursday. If you’d like to post every Wednesday you want to start the challenge on Friday before. Don’t worry, once you see the challenge below you will understand it all.

  • Adjust the number of pins according to your Pinterest strategy at the moment.

This challenge will ask you to pin daily. Create as many pins as needed to get you through the month without skipping on days.

30 Day Grow Your Blog Challenge

blog challenge

Week 1

Day 1

  • Create a minimum of 20 pins that will be ready for you to pin throughout the month. If you usually pin 3-4 pins, make sure you create even more. Alternatively, you could create new pins every few days and store them on your device, ready for pinning.

You could create 30-50 pins in less than an hour if you use templates. You can create your own templates (I do that for my first blog) or buy templates from other bloggers (I do that for my second blog).

Blogging time for the day: 1 hour.

Day 2

  • Research a topic for your first blog post (Post 1). This should take you around an hour. Research the keyword, outline the post, brainstorm subheadings and questions to answer in your post.

Blogging time for the day: 1 hour.

Day 3

  • Draft your Post 1. Work with the subheadings from the previous day. Answer the questions. Add as much information as needed. You want to get to a point where the post needs just an edit.

Blogging time for the day: 1-3 hours. It depends on how fast you write your post.

Day 4

  • Research on your second post for the month (Post 2). It’s good if the topic is closely related to the topic on Post 1. You already have a good foundation for it from the previous few days.

Example: If your post 1 was on self-care tips, your second post could be on self-care products.

  • Tweet a question (or ask on FB) that is related to your topic on Post 1.

Example: If your post 1 was on self-care tips, your question could be: What’s your favorite self-care tip when you’re low on energy.

Blogging time for the day: 1-1.5 hour

Day 5

  • Edit Post 1. Check your grammar, add photos, add affiliate links if needed, interlink properly, link, or embed videos. Create 5 pins for it.
  • Schedule the post for publishing on day 6.

Blogging time for the day: 1-1.5 hour

Day 6

  • Send an email to your subscribers with an intro to your newly published post 1, add link for them to read it.
  • Share the post on social media.

Day 9

  • Research on topic for a blog post 3 (Post 3). If possible, stay close to the topic from Post 1 and Post 2. Outline the subheadings and questions to answer.

Example: Post 1 was on self-care tips, Post 2 was on self-care products. Your Post 3 could be on how to practice self-care when low on time and energy (hence the question you asked on social media a few days ago)

Day 11

  • Create a free 1-2 page printable (or a checklist) to offer as a sign-up freebie to one of your posts.

Example: If your post 1 was for self-care tips, why not create a self-care checklist.

  • Create a social media post (Twitter, IG, FB, or any other media you have)

Blogging time for the day: 1-2 hours /depends on how long it takes you to create the freebie/

  1. I am doing this challenge now, I have a question, what do I do with my product? Where and when will I sell it? Also what to do once challenge is over?

    1. Hi Alisha, the idea of the challenge is to help you create a routine of writing and publishing posts on a regular basis. Once you are done with the first 30 days you could keep building up content and work on ways to promote your product.
