They all have the same goal: to make you (or whoever will receive the self-care gift box) smile, feel better and most of all – take a few moments actually to practice self-care in a better and more intentional way.

When putting together a self-care box, I would nourish three things in the person who receives it: mind, body, and soul.

I am here to prove you have plenty of choices, and they are all affordable, gentle, and a perfect fit for your self-care basket.

Books

A book has always been (and will be) one of the ultimate ways to relax the mind. There was a beautiful quote written on the bookmark of a book I received recently:

A book is a dream you hold in your hands”

Gift that dream. It might be exactly the dream someone needs in their life.

What type of book should you put in a self-care basket? It truly depends on the person who will receive the basket. Most likely, you want to go for a genre that will uplift them, hook them or simply inspire them.

Journal

Just a simple journal like this one on Etsy could inspire your friend to de-clutter their mind and that’s self-care in action.

Coloring Book

Coloring books are by far one of the most popular ways to de-stress and relax one’s mind. There are thousands of options out there: printable coloring pages or delivered-to-your-door coloring books.

Bonus tip: Not sure if they will enjoy coloring? They will, but just in case, add a pack of crayons in the basket, so they start coloring right after you leave their place.

Books of Jokes

Laugh is the best way to treat absolutely everything: bad mood, depression, anxiety, bad start of the day, loneliness, and more.

Getting your friend a book with jokes will keep their spirit up and their face brighter for many days ahead. Plus, you will get to hear them all eventually.

Movies

Is gifting each other CDs with favorite movies silly and pointless?

Maybe!

But you could still get the experience of watching movies by subscribing your friend to Amazon Prime Video or Netflix. It’s up to them if they will keep the subscription after the gifted period is gone.

Yes, you could create a playlist on Spotify for them and then include the list of songs in a simple printable for them with a cute message from you. That’s very personal and heart-warming, and now they have someone to think of when listening to the songs.

Mental Health Journal

This is a different type of journal. It will help them stay conscious of the way they look after their mental health.

That would probably be my favorite section of all three. I have so many ideas of how to nourish the mind, and I do most of them. Most likely, if I have a bad mental health day, I reach for one of these, so you can trust me, you need at least a few in your self-care gift basket.

  • Loose Leaf Tea – as simple as it sounds, this tea will wake up senses in a gentle and nourishing way.
  • Coffee, especially if it’s manually ground and then brewed. The smell is heavenly good and brings an instant smile and calmness (can you tell I need a coffee while writing this?).
  • Chocolate – Yes, nourishing the soul is waking up all the senses, and chocolate delivers on most of them.
  • Meditation disc – This disc is with meditations by Dr. Joe Dispensa, and we all know he is one of the best in mind re-programming.
  • Affirmation cards – done for you and ready to guide one’s soul to a more self-loving and self-caring mindset.
  • Tarot For Self-Care – if your friend is curious about learning and using Tarot cards, they will enjoy these Tarot cards for self-care too.
  • Essential oil of your choice – yes, those truly feeds the soul with aroma, relieve stress, and relax the mind, body, and soul.
