Why Am I Never Satisfied With What I Have

Why Are You Never Happy and How To Fix It? (Is There Something To Be Fixed?)

You know those grumpy people who are never happy, always complain and make others’ life miserable?

You aren’t one of them.

But still, no matter how much you deny it, deep inside you know: you are not happy.

In fact, you are never happy, and that upsets you because you have so many reasons to be happy in life, and you know you should be… yet, you are constantly asking yourself, “Why am I never satisfied with what I have?

I am you. And it’s not fun!

Everything’s fine (as “fine” as it could be these days), but the reality is, we have glimpses of “better days“, and then we go back to the deep hole of self-pity, grey mornings, and depressive moods.

The One Thing You Want To Stop Doing Right Now If You Are Never Satisfied With Your Life

Here’s the deal.

Staying in anxiety mode won’t help you. Blaming yourself for not being happy won’t make you feel better, and in fact, it will only make things worse. Doing nothing will not change anything either.

And before you rush ahead to say you’re having a problem, stop!

Lack of life satisfaction is not fun, but it’s also a good thing… to some extend.

Looking for more reasons to be displeased with your life isn’t the best direction for any of us. Instead of staring at your reflection in the bathroom mirror and be skeptical about how far circumstances will get you… grab that life and tell it where to go.

Leave the self-pity behind you; there’s not even one good reason to keep dragging it around as an excuse to be gloomy for yet another day.

Is it time you loved yourself better? See how!

There’s Only One Real Reason You Are Never Happy With What You Have

By the end of this post you will know the single reason happiness is absent in your heart and how to fix it.

I will drop the truth in a bit, but first, let me go through most of the reasons people believe are at the base of their happiness.

You Aren’t Happy Because of What You Have

Well, I will rephrase it a bit: You aren’t happy because what you have isn’t what you want to have.

That’s the most obvious reason isn’t it?

You have the car, but not the car you’d ideally want. You have the house, but it’s small, cold, dark, or whatever other reason. You have the job, but it’s demanding, stressful, underpaid, and most likely not the job you’ve always wanted.

Yes, those are good reasons never to be happy. And even if watching ads of hungry kids on the other side of the globe makes you feel guilty for being unhappy with all you have, the reality is – you are still not satisfied.

You Aren’t Happy Despite What You Have

But there’s another thing.

What if everything you have is everything you’ve hoped to have a few years ago… and you still can’t enjoy life?

What if you got the job of your dreams, but it’s not as you imagined? Your house might be big and nice, but it doesn’t “spark joy” (excuse the cliche).

Yes, it’s possible. Even if everything looks “just fine” you can be unhappy and feeling depressed and pressured to enjoy all you have.

You Compare Yourself With Others All The Time

Here’s the deal.

At all times (and I mean it), someone else is going to have more money than you, a better marriage, a better-paid job, or better health. Comparing yourself to people around you isn’t just unhealthy. It’s self-damaging.

The only person you want to compare to is yourself from the past. As long as you work on your personal growth and self-development, you truly wouldn’t want to care about how others live their life.

You Never Learned To Appreciate What You Have

The last thing I want to be is rude. But because I am just like you, it’s time to tell you the truth.

Most of us weren’t taught to appreciate little things in life or the people around us. I wasn’t. I took everything for granted and thought the world owes me everything.

And then I fell so bad that I lost myself in the process. I never got back to who I was, and that was a good thing. Instead, I uncovered a deeper layer inside me, and with the help of gratitude, I learned to appreciate life a lot more than before. Can you relate?

Here Is The Reason Why You Are Never Happy With What You Have

In fact, I put it incorrectly.

It’s not that you are not happy with what you have. You are not happy with who you are.

You strive for more and always look towards the future instead of what today brings you.

And while this might be confusing at first, there’s something good in the situation too.

By striving for more, you will always seek growth and grab the opportunity to evolve. You just need to work on enjoying the journey while walking towards that dream you wish for.

It’s not about what you have. You most likely have more than you believe you do. Learning to appreciate life in all its shapes and colors isn’t a one-day task but an ongoing process you want to start asap.

Take your time

Don’t be so harsh on yourself. You are all you’ve got and you of all people are obligated to be there for yourself.

Does that sound too weird and confusing?

I bet it does, but do you truly believe you deserve to be mistreated and told that you aren’t where you should be and that you are ungrateful and greedy? Of course, not. However, you do that exact thing by getting frustrated with yourself with all that happiness chase.

Take your time. Stay in the present and evaluate who you are and what you’ve done. Is there room to grow? Congratulate yourself for having the heart and the courage to asset your life.

The easiest thing is to blame and talk negatively. But it’s not how you change things.

And should you change anything at all?

Is it that you simply ignore what you shouldn’t or that you compare yourself too much?

Walk your path

Only you can say if who you are is who you should be.

Only you can find appreciation and gratitude in every day you wake up healthy.

Only you can uncover that happiness you crave for – yes, it’s already with you but hides behind the curtain of self-disappointment.

Walk your path and do your best day after day. it’s all you have left to do and it’s all you can do.
