The search for simple ways to feel happier is so intense that it seems like most people are busy just searching but not implementing some of the tips they find. If you are not one of those people and are actually ready to try some of the tips below, you will be shocked by their effectiveness.
They are all simple ways to feel happier, content, and overall satisfied with your life no matter where you live.
Here’s a secret for you. By coming to this blog, you automatically got in your hands a huge guide on how to feel happier and enjoy life more than ever.
How Can You Be Happy Every Day?
Here’s the thing…
If you are anything like me, you might be overwhelmed by the tens (or even hundreds) of bad news, stressful content, and overall negativity that gets thrown at us daily.
That’s normal (to be overwhelmed), and it is your right and (maybe) obligation to find the most suitable way to search for your happiness… in the midst of all that negativity.
Life isn’t as miserable as it seems, and despite what it seems on the news, the world isn’t such a horrible place to live in.
Focusing on the positive doesn’t mean denying the negative, but just underlining what actually is important to us and producing a positive vibe that others around us pick up on.
Today, I will share 20 simple and totally-worth-the-effort ways to feel happier and learn to enjoy life more and more. Yes, it’s possible, millions of people are using these techniques, and they work for them. It’s your turn.
20 Ways To Feel Happier In Life

1. Listen to your heart and intuition
The world is a noisy place where we get challenged with tips, tricks, and pieces of advice from every corner of the internet (social media, blogs, and news). And while I understand that this article is one o them, I will still stand behind my word and ask you to simply follow your intuition … regarding everything.
Listen to your heart isn’t just a timeless song, but a conclusion we all eventually admit as a mighty one.
Giving your intuition a voice also enhances happiness because you tune in with something greater than you and feel guided and supported by a higher power.
Learn how to create that precious connection with yourself through this guide here.
2. Cultivate Gratitude
Gratitude has been my only go-to source of instant happiness for many years now. I love talking and practicing Gratitude, and I always push it ahead in my posts.
Here’s why!
Gratitude doesn’t just open your heart (which is a separate benefit of itself), but it also nurtures it and makes it stronger.
It doesn’t just highlight the good in life but enhances positive thinking and attracts even more.
You could use Gratitude as a daily stress-relief session or a manifestation tool that gets more good stuff to enter your life.
You could practice Gratitude as part of your morning or evening routine by creating your own gratitude jar or a simple journal. Alternatively, you could get any of these guided gratitude journals that will support you in building a new habit.
3. Search for things and people that bring the good in you out
There are many ways to trigger your dark side (we all know what challenges us daily). Yet, the magic happens when we actively search for people, events, and things that unveil the good inside us.
Who made you smile yesterday? Talk to them today as well.
What was the last event that brought tears of happiness to your eyes? Journal about it.
If I say “happy childhood,” what is it that pops in your mind as a memory from your childhood?
When I say “happy weekend,” what is the picture you envision? Could you make it a reality in the upcoming weekends?
Thinking and bringing positive experiences into your life is your responsibility. Bad things happen, and too often, we have zero control over them. But the good in our lives is still present, it just needs an extra poke here and there, a little dusting-off, and it will shine again.
4. Don’t search for the change
There is a proverb (I am too lazy to research its correct wording) I will do my best to present to you in a way that will support this point: Wherever you go, remember that you still carry yourself with you.
What would that mean?
I had a period of my life where I would believe that changing the job, the place I live, the country, the man will fix my problems. Yet, making the change was just a temporary fix to the situation. I would soon end up in the same state of mind and urge to change places, things, and people.
You see, “wherever we go, we take ourselves with us” means that the change should always come from the inside and the outer reality is just a mirror of our inner world.
Yes, changing jobs, countries, and life partners is great if you actively search for something specific. When you do the change for the sake of change and hope of making things better... you are doing it for the wrong reasons.
5. Learn how to enjoy your alone time
Being alone (even if it’s just for a day or two) is a challenge to many people. They tend to depress over their social status and dream of being anywhere else but where they are.
And while the solution could always be to find someone to talk, chat and interact with, there is always an extra option too – learning to enjoy your alone time.
Even introverts often have trouble being with themselves. So, if you are an introvert and feel awkward staying alone, don’t worry; you aren’t turning into an extrovert.
See this guide on learning to enjoy your alone time in ways that will enhance your happiness.
6. Try new hobbies

Wonder how to feel happier with your life? Fill it with fun things to do no matter your lifestyle.
Even if you already have a hobby, there is a chance you are a bit tired of it. You still love it, but if you haven’t done anything about it in a while now.. you just need something different for a while.
Try new hobbies that challenge your thinking and poke your creativity. See 50 hobbies you could have from the comfort of your couch while on your laptop or computer.
7. Visit places you’ve never visited before
I know you might be dreaming of a trip to Europe or Bali, but if that’s not an option for you right now, there’re other ways to feel happier too.
Visit places you’ve never visited before, even if they are in your town. I bet there is a gallery you’ve never gone into, a restaurant you keep hearing about but never tasted their food, or a corner of the local park you always skip.
Visiting new places doesn’t always have to be costly or hundreds of miles away from where you live.
You will see me repeat it a few times here, but too often, we just feel bored with our lives. And it’s not about being happy or not; it’s about the level of entertainment we create for ourselves by ourselves.
List a few places you could visit this weekend, and it is all up to you to make it happen. Then pick one and start your journey. Get excited about it. Take photos, notice the vibe of the place, be mindful of your experience.
Rinse and repeat.
8. Re-discover self-care …
Okay, a bit of a trivial suggestion, I realize that. However, self-care isn’t always about soaking in a bathtub – it looks so romantic on all of the Youtube videos, but you live in a rented room and share a bathroom with 5 other beings.
Self-care is about tunning with yourself and deliver on what you need at this point. It could be a walk in the park, a nap, or a book. Alternatively, it could be a catch-up with an old friend, a call to your parents, or a delicious meal from a local takeaway.
Self-care doesn’t have boundaries, and it isn’t about the aesthetically pleasing look you will photograph and post on Instagram. In fact, not sharing with the world might make it just an idea more private and special. How does that sound?
9. Re-discover books
It is time to ire-discover books.
And I am not talking about the self-help books you keep an ongoing list of.
I am talking about any other fiction book that could spark interest non you.
We are trapped in our everyday lives doing the same things and worrying about the same stuff. A book is like a door to another world where everything is possible. Getting lost in another universe or living the love story through the eyes of a fictional character is truly a journey… and you didn’t even leave your comfy couch. Re-discover books.
10. Try a new habit every month

You will especially love this one here if you are on a self-development journey. New habits and new ways to improve yourself are always welcome, but that is even more exciting if you actively choose to switch between habits. Why?
Often developing a new habit (or deciding to develop it) is connected to the idea that you have to stick to that habit for life. Of course, you realize that you could (and most likely, will) drop it at some point, but that probably makes you even more hesitant to develop it.
However, if you decide to try a new thing just for a month, that gives you a few extra motivational points:
- you don’t have to stick to it if it doesn’t suit you
- it’s just for 30 days and that makes it doable and less time consuming
- you could actually test how different life changes affect your productivity and happiness levels and choose to stick to that habit for longer.
Here are 30 ideas of tiny five-minute habits that will make the whole journey even sweeter.
11. Learn to accept yourself
Accepting yourself isn’t always an option, and many of us are struggling with past and present that keep us resentful. However, accepting yourself is a long journey that you have to go through eventually. Why waiting?
See this guide on my best tips on how to accept yourself and invite happiness into your life.
12. Start a Happiness Journal
Yes, a Happiness Journal exists, and you could use it to record your best memories, moments, ideas, and reflections daily.
I created that journal at the beginning of 2021 as an answer to the need to focus on what truly matters – happiness itself. And only by reflection, gratitude, and daily focusing on the good in life, we could actually uncover happiness.

13. Show appreciation to others
This one probably had to be a bit earlier on this list. However, most of the things on this list deserve first place.
It’s scientifically proven that showing appreciation and kindness to others automatically makes us happier. And while your reasoning to do good shouldn’t be “so you feel happy,” it is still a great bonus to just being a nice person.
See 77 ways you could show gratitude and appreciation to others.
14. Change the way you think about yourself
Have you ever been fed up with the negative way you think about yourself? Isn’t it time you start treating yourself with kindness and self-love?
You are smart enough to know that the way you think about yourself affects the way you see yourself, and ultimately – the way others see you. If you struggle with low self-esteem, this will affect how you act when amongst others, changing the way they see you.
Changing the way you think about yourself isn’t an easy journey, but if you understand that it is an issue for you, see this comprehensive guide on how to start changing your life.
15. Boost creativity

Creativity isn’t about being the next Picasso or Shakespeare. It’s about being flexible with the way you approach life and its problems, issues, and of course – opportunities.
Creativity helps you see your everyday challenges as part of your path and not obstacles that stop you from walking on it.
Boosting your creative mindset isn’t just a fun way to look cool, but a way to live your life differently by creating it with your own thoughts, actions, and even hands.
See some awesome ways to boost creativity from the morning, so you have a happier day. Every day!
16. Have a vision about the life you want
There is nothing wrong with searching for a job that will fit your lifestyle and inner urge. And you should be exploring life’s wonders at your pace.
However, having a vision of how you want to feel and experience your life is important. Create your vision board and if you don’t wish to get too specific for the upcoming three or five years, just stick to building your desired life for the next year. And here are some inspirational quotes to add all over it.
17. Prioritize yourself because you deserve it
I know that many people judge the idea of prioritizing yourself, but you shouldn’t care about their opinion because I can guarantee you they prioritize their life just as much.
Learning to put yourself first isn’t part of most of “how to feel happier” guides because of its close relation to selfishness. But you still have to look after yourself, and you still need to be aware of your needs. And you still want to work towards your goals and draw. And that is what I call self-prioritizing.
If the idea of putting yourself first resonates with you, see this simple info on how to do it properly starting today.
18. Keep an eye on the things you have control over
You might be feeling a little bit under the water lately (by lately, I mean the last year or two). You might be thinking you’ve lost control over your life, and it is up to others how to live it. However, by adopting this type of mentality, you totally give away your power – the power to control your choices and decisions. There are a minimum of 65 things you have full control over in your life, and I bet you could come up with 65 more by yourself.
19. Go out of your comfort zone
Do you know how to feel happier and enjoy life more? Challenge yourself. Leave your comfort zone and explore your own limits.
Don’t get stuck where it’s safe, but go out of the ordinary and do something new and exciting. Happiness follows the brave ones. Remember this.
20. Stop hating yourself
Intentionally I left this one as the last point on this list of easy ways to become a happier person.
Hating ourselves isn’t a choice we’ve made consciously at any point in our lives.
One day we just look at ourselves in the mirror, and we realize that we don’t like who we are and aren’t satisfied with where we are. And that’s the moment when we actively stand behind the idea of being angry with ourselves, hating the life we’ve created, and hating ourselves for creating it.
Yet, happiness doesn’t live where self-hatred rules. And to understand this completely, I’ve written a simple story I would like to share with you. Don’t worry; it’s a short one; just click here to read it now.
