If the winter has put you into a lethargic mood and you crave the crisp freshness of spring, the songs of the birds, the long walks, and the beauty of the world waking up for the new season… this spring self-care challenge is for you!
This 30-day challenge is focused on your physical, mental, and spiritual awakening and puts your body into rhythm with the season.
Some (but not all) of the benefits from this challenge are:
- physical and mental glow-up;
- emotional balance;
- bringing the joy of spring into your everyday life;
- learning appreciation and mindfulness by making the most of each day;
- building up healthy habits;
- trying something that gently puts you out of your comfort zone;
- tapping on your discipline and getting an immediate reward for it.
If these reasons managed to convince you to give this spring self-care challenge a go, let’s get into the ideas themselves.

Structure of the 30-Day Self-Care Challenge
I’ve divided this challenge into three categories. I believe focusing on one area at a time is essential for its success. We start with 10 days of nourishing the body, proceed with 10 days of mental and emotional well-being, and save the last 10 days for your spiritual well-being.
Self-Care Ideas for Awakening Your Body For Spring
Day 1: Start with a gentle detox in the form of a smoothie. You can go for a recipe of your choice or copy mine: a carrot, a handful of spinach, and a few inches of ginger root enter your blender, along with the juice of a lemon and half a glass of water (or plant milk of your choice). You blend it well and pour it into a tall glass. Enjoy!
Day 2: Start your day with a 20-minute morning stretch.
Day 3: Drink at least 6 glasses of water. You should be doing that every day, to be honest, but if you’re like me and “forget” to drink water, today is your day to start your quest to a more hydrated life!
Day 4: Go for a 30-minute walk outside! I would suggest you do it only if it’s really nice and sunny. If today’s not the sunny day of the month, you might want to swap this day with another one from the challenge. You want your spring walks to be truly enjoyable so you can appreciate the colors and freshness of the season.
Day 5: Have a no-sugar day!
Day 6: Get at least 8 hours of sleep. If that really isn’t an option, do the impossible to squeeze at least an extra hour on top of whatever your normal hours of sleep are.
Day 7: Take a long bath with Epsom salts.
Day 8: Pick a nutritious recipe from your Pinterest board and cook it today.
Day 9: Spend an hour doing a physical activity outdoors. It could be walking, biking, yoga in your back garden, or gardening.
Day 10: Go for your longest and most replenished skincare routine ever. Make it an hour long if you have to. Start with a hair mask, have your “everything shower”, scrub the dead skin away, moisturize, and pamper your feet and hands… You will be tired by the end of it but so happy and ready for the second part of this spring self-care challenge.

Mental and Emotional Self-Care
Day 11: Meditate for 15-20 minutes. If this is something new to you, here is a very simple and gentle meditation video to listen to.
Day 12: Write down 5 things you are grateful for. If you don’t like journaling, you can scribble them on a piece of paper or open your notes app on your phone.
Day 13: Spend an hour reading a book.
Day 14: Digital detox – no social media today! And if you agree that a digital detox and declutter is due, here is a 14-day challenge for you with 5-10 minute tasks that will help you establish a better relationship with your devices.
Day 15: Declutter a small but forgotten area of your home. Choose the area you usually skip, like the most uncomfortable drawer in your kitchen you never get to pay attention to. What about your shoe storage area? Throw away or donate stuff you don’t use or need. It frees space for something better.
Day 16: Do something creative – paint, write, sing, dance, craft…
Day 17: Spend quality time with a loved one. And if your loved ones are far away, a nice long video call with them counts, too.
Day 18: Listen to a motivational podcast or watch a motivational TED Talk.
Day 19: Reflect on your personal goals and your values for this season.
Day 20: Practice positive affirmations such as these ones.

Spiritual Well-being for the Spring
Day 21: Spend time in nature and solitude. Meditate, walk your dog, read a book. It is your choice.
Day 22: Practice deep breathing exercises, preferably outdoors in your garden, in the park, or in front of an open window. Follow the four-square breathing: breathe in while counting to four, hold the air counting to four, exhale while counting to four, and hold your lungs empty for a four-count. Full instructions here, and be sure you do it only if you are comfortable with this exercise.
Day 23: Spend the day in silence and solitude. You can also swap this day with another one if it isn’t a convenient option. As much as possible, don’t talk, do not spend hours on social media, and avoid TV. Journaling, yoga, walks, meditations, mindful eating, and probably a book are your best friends for the day.
Day 24: Do a random act of kindness.
Day 25: Watch the sunrise or the sunset.
Day 26: Visit a place that brings you spiritual peace.
Day 27: Journal for self-discovery by picking any few of these 100 writing prompts.
Day 28: Set a timer for five minutes and try to come up with as many things you’re grateful for as possible.
Day 29: Spend time thinking or journaling on the idea that you need nothing more than what you have right now.
Day 30: Reflect on the last 30 days. Which activities did you enjoy the most? What took you out of your comfort zone? Did you skip any day? Why?
