I analyzed 36 billionaires’ morning routines and created the perfect checklist for success!
It is all about the mornings!
And the work you put into your workdays.
And how well you avoid distractions.
And affirmations.
And going to sleep early.
It’s all about working smart instead of hard.
And taking your vitamins.
And having the best time management system.
And not getting tired of chasing success and never giving up.
…
Regardless of how obvious all of the habits and theories from above are, I cannot help but cringe a little bit when thinking of how many different “rules” for success we get showered with daily.
I’ve summarized 36 billionaires’ morning routines and created the perfect billionaire morning routine checklist that includes only 7 common things for most of them. Some of the tycoons I picked to include in this post are Mukesh Ambani, Carlos Slim Helu, Amancio Ortega, Phil Knight, Richard Branson and many more.

Do Billionaires Have a Routine?
Everyone has a morning routine, regardless of their financial situation. The simple acts of waking up, making a cup of coffee, and dressing up for the day are already examples of morning routines.
The real question is: What makes billionaires’ morning routines better than ours?
I will give you the answer in a few minutes.
Meanwhile, here are the 7 most common morning habits that billionaires include in their morning routines.

Morning Habit 1: Prioritize What Matters
I contemplated for a while which habit is the most important, and I believe that would be the one: You do You!
It sounds so outdated and cliche, but can you blame me?
After reading about rich people’s routines, one thing stands out: Despite the similarities, each one of them does what works for their individual schedules and lifestyle.
Even if you and I copy their routines to the minute, that still wouldn’t mean we will become billionaires. We can only say we are on the right path by adjusting ourselves to our needs, goals, and priorities!
So, breathe! If you want to exercise and feel like it makes you more productive and happy, add it to your morning routine. If you’ve never enjoyed early breakfast, there is no need to start pushing yourself to have it now.
However, if you are seeking success, experiment with the things that put you in the right mindset to get on top of your to-do list and stay happy.

Billionaire Morning Habit 2: Wake-Up Time
You’ve probably heard the proverb, “The early bird catches the worm.”
Well, there’s quite a bit of truth to it, especially if you peek into the lives of some of the world’s most successful billionaires.
An astonishing 8 out of 36 billionaires I studied are up before 6 a.m. Yes, you read that right.
While most of us are still nestled in our beds, individuals like Richard Branson, Warren Buffet, Michael Bloomberg, Mukesh Ambani, Carlos Slim Helu, Amancio Ortega, Phil Knight, and David Koch have already kick-started their day.
But the “early bird” club doesn’t end there. An additional 19 billionaires join the crew by waking up before 7 a.m.
This list includes renowned personalities like Elon Musk, the brains behind Tesla and SpaceX, tech-titan Bill Gates, former Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey, Oracle’s Larry Ellison, former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, and more.
Their disciplined routine also includes the likes of Michael Dell, Steve Ballmer, Rupert Murdoch, Stefan Persson, Leonardo Del Vecchio, Li Ka-Shing, George Soros, and Ray Dalio.
What’s the magic in these wee morning hours, you ask? Well, early risers often have a head start on the day. They get precious quiet hours to think, strategize, read, exercise, or even spend quality time with family before the world wakes up and demands their attention.

Morning Habit 3: Exercise, Meditate, Nourish the Body
There’s an old saying that “Health is wealth,” and who better to exemplify this than some of the world’s wealthiest and most successful individuals?
20 out of 36 billionaires I studied embrace exercise or sports as a crucial part of their morning routine. Tech moguls like Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Tesla’s Elon Musk, and successful investors like Warren Buffet and Virgin Group founder Richard Branson all prioritize morning workouts.
This power list doesn’t stop there. It includes other high-profile names like Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Dorsey, Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer, Oracle’s Larry Ellison, and even Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani. Let’s not forget billionaire entrepreneurs like Oprah Winfrey, Mark Cuban, Phil Knight, and Li Ka-Shing, who also value their morning sweat sessions.
These billionaires understand that a good workout session isn’t just about staying in shape. It’s about setting the tone for the day, clearing the mind, and enhancing productivity. After all, when your body feels good, your mind does, too, right?
On the other end of the spectrum, we have a smaller yet equally significant group of wealthy people who take a different approach. Three billionaires – Jack Dorsey, Oprah Winfrey, and Bridgewater Associates’ Ray Dalio – begin their day with meditation (free chakra balance quiz here).
Meditation may not get your heart rate up, but it’s a workout for the mind, helping to build focus, clarity, and calmness. These billionaires harness the power of silence and mindfulness to start their day on a peaceful and focused note, enabling them to navigate the chaos and demands of their high-powered lives.
Billionaire Morning Habit 4: Breakfast
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and some of the world’s wealthiest individuals couldn’t agree more!
12 out of the 36 billionaires make it a point to start their day with a hearty breakfast. Now, that’s some food for thought!
Take Jeff Bezos, for example, the brains behind the giant Amazon. He values a slow, relaxing morning and starts his day with a healthy breakfast.
Or consider Elon Musk, the genius who gave us Tesla and SpaceX; he makes sure to fuel up in the morning as he prepares to conquer his busy day.
And then we have Richard Branson, the dynamic founder of Virgin Group, who pairs his early morning exercise routine with a healthy breakfast.
Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and investment whiz Warren Buffet also make time for the day’s first meal.
Breakfast is also a priority for Oprah Winfrey, the queen of media, and Mark Cuban, the ‘Shark’ from Shark Tank.
So, what’s the deal about breakfast? Well, having a nourishing meal in the morning helps jump-start your metabolism and keeps your energy levels steady throughout the day. It can also aid in concentration and productivity, enabling you to tackle your day with vigor.
These billionaires may have diverse business ventures, different backgrounds, and varied routines, but they all understand the importance of starting their day on a nourishing note.
So, the next time you’re tempted to skip breakfast in the morning rush, think about these successful billionaires. Their dedication to having a good breakfast might inspire you to do the same. After all, who wouldn’t want to start their day like a billionaire?

Morning Habit 5: Reading in the Morning
21 out of 36 billionaires I studied begin their day by reading informational news or articles. Despite their hectic schedules and immense responsibilities, they make it a point to feed their minds each morning.
Morning reading sessions teach them about global events and industry trends, helping them stay ahead of the curve.
Take Warren Buffet, one of the most successful investors in the world, for instance. He devotes a large chunk of his morning to reading newspapers. The same goes for Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group, and Larry Ellison, the co-founder of Oracle.
Then there’s Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx, who has an interesting reading habit. She takes her morning coffee with a side of reading, using this time to spark ideas and plan for the day.
Tech titans like Michael Bloomberg, Larry Page, and Mukesh Ambani also prioritize reading in their morning routine. They understand that to innovate; they need to keep up-to-date with the latest news and developments in their fields.
The takeaway is clear: starting the day with reading allows these successful individuals to learn and grow constantly. It fuels their creativity, equips them with knowledge, and helps them make more informed decisions.

Billionaire Morning Habit 6: Work!
Despite waking up early, having a healthy breakfast, and moving your body, there is one thing that every billionaire does: they work!
And they work a lot!
Let’s face it, you can start your day however you wish, but unless you put the sweat in, everything is going to stay the same!
Impressive 23 out of 36 billionaires begin their morning work well before the typical 9 to 5. Think about it: while most of us are just starting, billionaires like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Warren Buffet are already deep into their work.
These early morning work sessions offer a quiet, uninterrupted time to strategize, brainstorm, and focus on tasks that require the most attention. Without the distractions of meetings and calls, it’s an opportunity to tackle complex problems and make significant decisions.
Let’s take Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter and Square, as an example. He starts his day early, answering crucial emails while having his breakfast. Then there’s Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx, who uses her morning to map out her day and brainstorm ideas.

Morning Habit 7: Don’t Do Stuff!
It’s easy to build a morning routine of things to do, but how often do you consider NOT doing something as part of your billionaire morning routine? Do you want an example? Scrolling mindlessly on social media is the first thing that comes to mind, as it’s the one thing I still struggle with.
But there is more!
First off, decision fatigue is a real thing! Even Mark Zuckerberg sidesteps it by sticking to his iconic grey t-shirt daily. One less decision equals more mental space for more critical tasks.
What about meetings and calls? Unless they’re essential, both Elon Musk and Mark Cuban steer clear of them in the morning. No interruptions mean better focus on essential tasks. Now, that’s productivity boosted!
And guess what? Billionaires don’t rush their mornings. Jeff Bezos, the genius behind Amazon, swears by a slow start. Breakfast and family time come first, leading to a calm, focused workday.
Arianna Huffington, co-founder of The Huffington Post, even keeps her phone at bay. She ensures a peaceful morning by checking emails later, dodging the stress bullet right from the start.
In short, billionaires make their mornings count, not just by what they do but also by what they consciously avoid. So, how about tweaking your morning routine with these not-to-do tips? A billionaire-style day awaits!
