What are the best ways to improve yourself and live a better life?
How to improve your life?
We always starve for more. The thirst for more run through our veins and makes us search for the next fix that gives us “more” of something.
At the same time, we are told that we must be happy with what we have. Both things might seem controversial, yet I see them as complementing each other.
While starving for more of everything in our life, we must be aware that what we have is already enough and got us to the place we’re at. Simply said, going for the “more” is not bad as long we wisely choose what “more” we want.
In this post, I will list 100 ways to improve your life almost instantly. You could use it as an inspiration or guidance, as long as you leave this blog with the decision to try at least one of these ideas.

Let’s dive into improving ourselves. This is Part 1 of 100 Ways To Improve Your Life.
Ways to improve your life – Mind
Improving your mind is one of the most important things you could for yourself. You want your mind to be sharp and to serve you well until the last of your days on this world. Here are 10 ways you could help yourself and stimulate your brain activity daily.
1. Read three pages of a book daily.
It’s not a secret that reading stimulates your brain’s activity and keeps your mind sharp. It really doesn’t matter what the genre is, as long as you devote 10 minutes of your day in actually reading. I read stuff all day long, but in the evening, I set aside the work-stuff and spear some time to treat myself with fiction books. What is your favourite genre?
2. Learn to plan your days ahead
Planning your day ahead is not only beneficial to keep you organised. It also stimulates your analytic thinking and also, frees your brain from cluttering it with unnecessary information. You’ll feel less stressed if instead of trying to remember every single thing, you just write it down somewhere.
Extra tip: Always keep a small reporter’s notebook in your purse to write your ideas and tasks down before you transfer them onto the to-do lists.
3. Eat brain-foods
You are what you eat – literally! Everything that enters your body has been processed, and your body uses it to function properly. Hence, if you want your brain to function better, try to eat as healthy as possible and go for the main brain-foods, some of which: fatty fish, walnuts, dark chocolate (unsweetened), blueberries, green leafy veggies and more.
4. Write in your journal daily
Writing is one of the best brain exercises ever as makes you actually organise and express your thoughts in a written form. Also, often when we write, we use different words than when we talk, we create shorter sentences and skip the bad, unnecessary words. Keeping a journal isn’t something only teenage girls do anymore, but a great get-your-life-together exercise for your mind.

5. Play sudoku
Or solve crosswords. Maybe play chess?
Whatever you choose. My grandmother used to solve math problems in her 70s to keep her brain fresh and avoid dementia. The idea is this – your brain must struggle for a while every day on solving some sort of a problem (preferably, not life problems) to stay active and sharp.
6. Listen to audiobooks
I wouldn’t suggest you replace reading a book with listening to it, but if you’re cooking, driving or walking, why not using the time to stimulate your brain activity even more? I usually get one book monthly from Audible (most of the time way cheaper than the actual price of the book) and listen to it while cooking. Some of the books are with the length of 10-11 hours so that more than enough for the full month.
7. Sleep well
Should I say more? Getting enough sleep will save you from feeling like you’re in a fog all day after that, will help you think faster and make better decisions.
8. Learn something new every day
There are plenty of apps that offer you to learn something new every day.
- the Curiosity app will tell you interesting facts from all around the world, history facts and health discoveries;
- Blinklist will summarise your books into 15-minute read, so you don’t have an excuse not to know what a book is about;
- Health IQ will give you useful information about your health.
9. Pay attention to what’s going on around you
Staying alert stimulates your brain activity. So, be focused on the things that happen around you. Pay attention to the people you talk to, the places you visit, even to what you do at this exact second.
10. Listen to classical music
Classical music could improve your mind by reducing blood pressure, getting you in a better mood and helping your cognition. (Source)
Improving Your Life – Body
It’s time to think of the ways to improve your life by looking after your body.

11. Drink plenty of water.
I honestly feel tired of typing these words as “drink more water” is one of those tips most readers roll their eyes on.
However, it’s a cliche, and everyone keeps bragging about it because it’s crucial for your mental and physical health. So, without getting into any more details: drink your 2l. of water daily. That’s it!
12. Wake Up and stretch
Stretching your body and making your body move the first thing in the morning is as important as the water from the previous point. If running 5K isn’t your thing at 5 a.m. then stretching your muscles must be. Setting aside a minute or two in the morning to wake up your body will improve your flexibility and prepare you for a productive and successful day.
13. Exercise 4-5 times a week
Even 3 times is an achievement for some of us (yes, I just included myself in this). You might go to the gym in your lunch break or hit it later in the day. But if weightlifting isn’t your things, sign up for aerobic classes, Zumba or anything else that makes your heart rate almost explode for a few days weekly.
14. Eat nutritious food and do it slowly
Good food is crucial for the health of your body. But eating like someone’s going to steal your food, isn’t beneficial to your body as you don’t chew properly and your stomach will struggle to process the food later.
Be mindful with your food. Smell it, taste it, feel it. Think good thoughts while eating. All this helps You.
15.Count your steps
10 000 steps daily are the perfect you aim for. But if you’re like me and work in an office, 10K is a number you could do only if you walk half of your working time.
However, this is not an excuse to not move at all. Just do your best every day to stay active.
16. Do 5-10 min. yoga
Yoga is the blessing in my life. It helps me stretch in the morning or relax and de-stress in the evening – it depends on which one I need more.
Have you tried yoga? If you’re struggling to start – this is my favourite YouTuber I follow for the last four years. She will help you move that body of yours.
17. Make love
Making love is a physical activity we all enjoy, but did you know that it’s actually one of the healthiest ways to stretch, raise your heartbeat and burn some calories?
Now you know!
18. Have your breakfast
I’ve never had any weight problems unless if it’s that I’m too skinny. People keep asking me how I do it and the only way I could explain it is that I have my breakfast. Every. Morning. I’m 32 years old and haven’t skipped breakfast more than 10 times in my life.
Second tip: Have something warm for breakfast. Drinking cold smoothies and hot coffees might be very modern nowadays, but listen to someone who does it for over 30 years: wake up your digestion with something warm in the morning. Cold food stresses your stomach and might cause pain later in the day. I ave oats with some fruits and honey every morning and I feel great. Try it yourself.

19. Give up alcohol and smoking
There are a few ways to improve your life that are common sense. But I still need to list them. ‘Cause why not?!
Dancing improves your flexibility, releases endorphins in your body and makes you smile. It’s a way to socialise with other people and have fun. So, dance!
Simple ways to improve your life – Spirituality
It’s time to leave the physical world and focus on something higher – spirituality and how to improve our life by tapping into our spiritual body.
5-10 minutes of yoga and 5-10 minutes of meditation right after that could easily replace 3-4 hours of sleep during the day. It feels great to turn on some guided meditation and simply listen to the voice, guiding you to a better state of mind.
22. Be mindful every day
We already talked about mindful eating and staying present at any time of your day. Eckhart Tolle stormed the world in 1997 with his book and if you want to learn more about the importance of staying in the present moment, have a look at it here or listen for free here.
Also, there are so many different mindfulness techniques that guide you. Maybe you don’t know it, but every time you are fully into doing something; when you listen carefully to your loved one talking; when you enjoy your hobby and don’t realise when the tie’s gone… you are in a flow. And that’s the flow of being fully present and mindful.
It’s great, isn’t it?
23. Read books that feed your soul
There are books we read at school. Then, there are books we read for getting better at our work. There are also books to waste time with, they make us laugh or cry, but we often forget them after a while.
And then, some books feed your soul and create a deeper connection between you and … well, You again. These are the ones you need to read for spiritual awakening.
24. Be kind and nice to people
Yes, this is actually something that helps you grow spiritually. Showing empathy, being kind to others and trying not to hurt anyone – that’s a necessity.
25. A place of love or a place of fear
I heard about this just last year. I was reading this book. The author was talking about how everything we do or say comes either from a place of love or from a place of fear.
And everything clicked. Things started making sense in my inner world. Because if everything comes either from a place of love or a place of fear, all we need to know is: Do we do what we do because of love or because of fear of something? When I struggle what decision to make, I ask myself again: “Do I do this from a place from love or there’s hidden fear somewhere?”
26. Travel to places worth visiting
Of course, we all love to spend a week on the beach somewhere in Italy or Greece. And I wouldn’t give up on a few days of sun and laziness. But sometimes, we also need to visit places that make us reconnect with ourselves, with our ancestors and open our eyes to other worlds. Here are 10 of the most spiritual places on Earth to visit.
27. Understand how the LOA works for you
The Law of Attraction works for everyone, want it or not. But even though we all know that, we still struggle with fully understanding it. Make it a priority to improve your knowledge of the LOA and its appearance in your life.
28. Spend time in nature
Reconnecting to nature is crucial to our spirituality. Often go out for walks, spend some weekends in the mountains and interact with animals. All that grounds you and helps you feel calmer and happier.
29. Spend time alone
It’s funny how less and less time we find about ourselves. We are often alone but stuck to our phones, computers or the TV. Switch them off, close your eyes and listen to your heart. Experience the world around you. Stay in silence – verbally and mentally. Appreciate this moment.
30. Talk to God
Or any other higher power you believe in.
Being aware that there’s something higher and more powerful than us out, there is scary and gives us hope at the same time. Talking to that higher power is like connecting to yourself, but outside yourself. It’s weird at the beginning, and you feel a little bit silly, but it’s probably the only way to share everything that’s stored in your heart and know that you won’t be judged.
Improving your social life
Until now, we talked about the ways to improve your mind, body and spirituality. It’s time to turn our heads toward the outside world and how we interact with it.
31. Declutter your social media
I know you probably have profiles on almost all of the social media that is trendy right now. But do you really need it? Does it benefit you? Declutter your social media. Sign out or delete your accounts from the social media you never use – that’s personal information they store about you. In this way, you will actually have time to…
32… Put down your phone and socialise in person
33. Instead of texting – call
Let me be old-fashioned and tell you that there were times when people could only call each other. And I also remember the times when the kids from my village were going on foot to each others’ houses to ask if they’ll play or hang out together. Yep, I like texting, but socialising was way smarter years ago.
34. Be nice to your potential friends
Every person you meet is someone who could teach you something and be your friend. Everyone around you is your potential friend. Be nice to your future friends.
35. Go out with friends weekly
Monday to Friday we are stuck at the office. Friday we barely move from the sofa. The weekend is usually spent with the family and the washing machine… Make time to have fun! Go out with friends once a week. It could be a 15-minute coffee with your best friend or dinner with family friends. Socialise more.
36. Go on holidays with friends
Somehow, going on a holiday with friends is something we do when we’re in our early twenties. But I still remember when I was a kid, and my father and I were going on holidays with other two or three families. The kids were playing together, and the adults had BBQs daily.
37. Say Yes more often
If you’re a person who says more often “No, I can’t” and “Sorry, I can’t make it to your party”, start saying Yes more often. Nobody’s asking you anywhere? Maybe you’ve said “No” too many times. In this case…
38. Host a party in your place
Invite your friends over and have fun.
39. Meet up
MeetUp is a great platform for meeting people you share common interests with. It could be a hobby or work-related. It could be a meeting between people who want to learn a new language or people who just feel lonely. Find your group.
40. Make a new friend every month
We usually have just a handful of good friends. However, making a new friend every month is a great challenge if you struggle with communication. It could be someone you already know or someone you meet tomorrow. Find that friend.
Ways to improve your life financially
Let’s talk about money. Because we all need a few pieces of advice on how to improve our financial situation.
41. Use more cash than credit cards
Did you know it’s easier to spend more when you pay with a card? However, if you physically have to give your money away, you will be more conscious of what you pay for.
42. Open a saving account and deposit in it monthly.
It really doesn’t matter how much you’re going to start with. Just start.
43. Cook at home
Less junk food means eating healthier. However, it also means that with the money you spend on a lunch menu in the local junk food restaurant, you could get products and cook a meal for your whole family.
44. Learn how to home budget
Because it’s important and it’s the base of your financial freedom.
45. Learn Meal planning
Knowing what you’ll have for dinner for the next seven days will help you buy the right products from the supermarket and spend less on things you probably won’t touch.
46. Stick to your shopping list
Yep, I struggle with that too. That’s why I place it here.
47. Find your worst money habits and fix them
And I have a very detailed guide on how to identify your worst money habits and deal with them. Like a boss!
48. Start paying more on your debts
It’s time, isn’t it? Why wait another 6 years to pay off your loans if you could do it in 2 years? Here are a few options on how to do that.
49. Set financial goals
50. Have. no-spend week every month
I know some people do no-spend days, but c’mon, we all have days we don’t spend any money. The trick is to have a no-spend week where you come up with strict rules, and you follow them.
