What Are Some Good Habits To Improve Life And Built Better You?

Self-development and implementing good daily habits and routines to improve our lives is the hot topic of the century.

Seriously.

Just look around.

Everyone seems to talk and write about the ways we could live a better life, feel happier, and achieve more in just 24 hours.

And I love this!

Why?

Many years ago, it was very hard to find information on how to grow and be the best version of ourselves.

There were a few big names such as Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, and Stephen Covey, but most of us were too skeptical to fully believe that everything is possible. Good habits in life were something our parents had responsibility for, and we realized just recently that the responsibility for the way we live our lives is ours only.

My first read on that subject was Og Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman in The World. I still remember the thrill of reading something so profound and the realization that this is something that changes lives is as strong today as it was back then.

Believe it or not, in the week after discovering that book I managed to write down in my notebook all of the 10 scripts from it (like, the full chapters!)

The power of the habits and You

beautiful-woman-posing

Habits are your biggest weakness and your most powerful tool. How so?

Our days and nights are managed by the habits we practice. We are who we are because of the little things we do daily and the little things we do every day are what we call habits.

Talking about Og Mandino’s book, in one of his scriptures he says

“In truth, the only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the difference of their habits. Good habits are the key to all success. Bad habits are the unlocked door to failure. Thus, the first law I will obey, which precedeth all others are—I will form good habits and become their slave.”

You see, we are already controlled by our habits. So, let’s be controlled by good habits.

In this post, I will introduce to you 101 good daily habits to improve life (your life) and add more purpose to your days.

You probably already practice some of them, others have been on your to-do list for some time, and some of them will be new ideas that will get you that “click” in your mind and will be the last push you needed to start making changes.

Let’s start with morning habits and routines. Do you already have one?

1. Wake up early. If you want to make a change in your life, you need to find time for it. Waking up early gives you that time.

2. Drink more water. Hydration is a big deal.

3. Exercise for at least 5 minutes every morning.

4. Meditate. Find your inner peace. Listen to it.

5. Write in a journal – brain dump or…

6. … create a gratitude list.

7. Go out for a short walk. – Walk the dog or get off the bus at the previous stop and walk to the office.

8. Do yoga.

9. Prepare a healthy breakfast and enjoy it.

10. Have a homemade green smoothie if breakfast isn’t your thing.

11. Read a page from an inspirational book.

12. Take a quick cold shower. Ok, almost nobody does that, but at least lower the temperature and make it last less than a minute.

13. Visualise your day ahead. In your mind, see the best way this day could go.

14. Repeat a few morning affirmations. Your brain is extremely perceptive in the morning. Use it to your advantage.

15. Take your time. Try to never rush through the morning. Rushing is the worst way to start your day.

16. Listen to an audiobook on your way to work (and on the way back).

18. Prioritise your most important task for the day and start with it. Eat that frog, remember?

19. Don’t waste your time gossiping with your colleagues.

20. Eliminate any type of distractions in your workplace.

26. Often take breaks. It’s worth it.

36. Stop reacting to other people’s opinions of you. It’s just an opinion based on their perception of you. It has nothing to do with you.

38. End the toxic relationships in your life. Yes, the relationship you just thought of… drop it off.

39. Make peace with yourself. Does something bother you? Make peace with yourself and stick to the decision you took. It’s the best you could do right now.

40. Prioritise yourself. I know, it’s hard to think about yourself first, and maybe it isn’t necessary to do it all the time, but ignoring your needs is bad for you and the people around you. Have your Happiness Journal to remind you to think of ways to nourish You too.

41. Practice self-care daily. Create your daily self-care routine and stick to it. If you don’t look after yourself, who would?

42. Learn something new every day. Try to learn something new about the world around you, your work, or on a subject you love. It keeps your mind busy and trains your brain to be active.

43. Stop stressing over something you can’t change. I know, easier said than done. But you’ve got to try.

78. Improve your sleep. You can’t love yourself if you feel like a zombie. Take some sleep.

79. Mens sana in corpore sano. That’s Latin. And it means “A healthy mind in a healthy body.” Look after yourself.

80. Stop comparing yourself. We all have different backgrounds and different paths to walk. I’ve got mine, and you’ve got yours. Let’s focus on that.

81. Appreciate who you are.

82. Stop the negative self-talk. If you wouldn’t tell something to your best friend why tell it yourself?

84. If you want to change something in your life or about yourself – do it. If you can’t make that change happen – accept it and learn to love it.
