3 Steps Morning Routine To Wake Up For Success

Morning routine to wake up for a productive and successful day

Fun fact about you: You already have a morning routine to wake you up for your day.

But does your morning work in your favour?

Does it actually prepare you for a productive and successful day?

Or do you just wake up feeling tired, snooze the alarm at least three times and then drag your feet around the house for half an hour with your morning coffee stuck under your nose?

Here’s the thing.

If one of your New Year’s resolutions was to finally create a morning routine that works for your lifestyle and isn’t busier than the rest of your day, then this post is perfect for you.

Today, I’d like to talk about the three things you should do every morning after you wake up.

This is a 3-step morning routine to wake up and get the best start of your day.

But before I start with the actual steps, remember that none of them will work if you don’t start from the night before. Your mood and productivity depend on your rested mind and body. And the latter won’t happen if you scroll on social media until 2 a.m.

Prepare for the morning from the night before

4Every morning is a new page in your life

I won’t get into too many details here as that’s not the focus of this post.

Here are the pillars of good sleep and rest:

  • Go to sleep early enough to give yourself 6-7 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
  • Stay away from your phone for a minimum of an hour before you go to sleep.
  • Read a book or listen to an Audiobook just before you fall asleep.
  • Prep your clothes for the next day.
  • Prep your breakfast (at least partially) too.
  • Set an intention for the morning to wake up and get out of bed without hitting the snooze button. You don’t want to start your day by procrastinating.
  • Just go to sleep.

Ok, that’s off the list. Let’s get to the good stuff.

3 Steps Morning Routine to Wake Up And Get The Right Boost For The Day

morning quotes

Although, you will see many ideas below, pick only those that resonate with you.

I’ve always said that it’s better to do one thing only but to do it right than to clutter your day with tasks you won’t finish.

The most important thing about your morning routine is that it must serve You. If waking up at 5 a.m. isn’t your thing, don’t do it.

Choose to do what’s best for you. Don’t compromise with yourself though. If you know that including some of the things below will change your life in a positive way, keep pushing yourself until you win (make these habits stick). If that makes any sense…

So, let’s start!

1. Wake Up Your Body

3 Your future is created today

The very first thing all of us should do in the morning is to properly wake up our bodies.

Your body carries you around all day. It serves you day after day, year after year and if you want it to do it for a long time, you must look after it.

The easiest example I could give you is to remind you that we appreciate our health only when we’re ill. Those are the moments we realize that a healthy body is an important part of improving ourselves.

But at these moments we usually just express some regrets we neglected ourselves and we promise to never do it again. Then we break this promise two days later.

Waking up your body in the morning could have many forms and it’s up to you to choose the form that suits you the best.

Here are a few ideas on how to wake up your body early in the morning:

  • Drink water – you’ve been deprived of hydration all night. It’s time to catch up. Drinking water will wake up your body organs and indicate to them that it’s time for the day shift. Make sure you track your water intake.
  • Stretch – If you aren’t a fan of early exercising or jogging, stretching is a great way to move your body and gently wake it up.
  • Do a quick warm-up – That’s what I do most of my mornings. I choose a short 5-10 minutes video to warm-up my body and jump and clap on it.
  • Exercise – If you’re motivated for a quick session – go for it. That’s totally not my way to wake up my body, but I seriously admire everyone who does it.
  • Yoga – This sounds more like me. 10-minute yoga stretch in the morning is like a blessing for your mussels.
  • Run for your life… well, jogging early in the morning is the absolute best way to completely wake up and squeeze a workout in your day, at the same time.
  • Deep breathes – You might have noticed that I include in this list every possible way to increase the oxygen in your body. If you don’t have time for any of the other things on this list, deep breathes in front of an open window will do most of the job too. Again, your goal is to fill your lungs with as much oxygen as possible after you get out of bed.
  • Shower – you could go extreme and have a cold shower. I guarantee the cold water will wake you up faster than even the most annoying alarm ever existed.
  • Breakfast – Waking up your digestive system early in the morning improves your metabolism, gut health and gives you energy for the rest of the morning. Don’t skip breakfast.

2. Wake up your spirit

Now that you’ve chosen a way or two to wake up your body, it’s time to wake up your spirit. I like to do that in a few ways when I have time, but if you don’t – choose at least one thing and try it tomorrow morning.

  • Write in a journal – Morning pages, brain dump, call it as you wish. Intentional writing in the mornings enriches your soul, gives you clarity of the world around you, and helps you get to know yourself.
  • Gratitude – I usually do this in the evenings, but if I skip it by any chance, I do it the next morning. If this is something you’d like to try here’s a list of the best journals to choose from.
  • Meditate – Even if it’s just to close your eyes for a minute or two and focus on your breathing, meditation will wake your spirit up. It calms your mind (yes, even in the morning) and helps you focus on what’s important in your small world. Have you tried it?
  • Affirmations – A great way to work on yourself, affirmations could help you stay focused on what you’ve decided is important for you. Here are 54 affirmation cards for you to tap into your spiritual growth.
  • Intention for the day – While affirmations are like preprogramming yourself for a change, intention for the day comes like a promise to plan your actions in a way that serves your goals.

3. Wake up your brain

The third step of your morning routine must be dedicated to the most important organ of your body – your brain.

To wake up your brain early in the morning you want to give it a task that will force it to be active for a short period of time. Here are a few easy ways I wake up my brain every morning.

  • Read – Reading a motivational book early in the morning not only wakes your brain up but also motivates you and inspires you. Just a few pages every morning won’t take too much of your time but will give you great results.
  • Play a problem-solving game – Not every game on your phone is bad. I play Sudoku every single morning and it does activate my brain. It improves your analytical thinking and teaches you how to search for more ways to solve one problem.
  • Breathe – I mentioned it above, but I cannot skip it here either. If there’s one thing that could wake up your brain properly, that’s oxygen. Deep breathes of fresh morning air are inspiring, motivating, healthy and refreshing. Breathe!
  • Plan – I like to plan my days in two steps – the night before and in the morning. Sometimes I wake up with good ideas that I must include in my planner, so I use the morning to plan some of the tasks.

So that’s it. 3-Steps morning routine that will wake you up and prepare you for the day.

As I mentioned, pick only the things that resonate with you and will transform your life. I would suggest you try most of them (not in one day, obviously) and see how your days go after it. If a certain combination of morning habits helped you smash your daily goals, stick to it no matter what.

What to do if you can’t stick to a morning routine

2days are expensive

What if you’ve already tried a few times to stick to a more productive morning routine but nothing worked?

What if you still hit the snooze button even though you hate yourself for doing it?

How to force yourself to stick to a morning routine?

You see, your body and your brain don’t like changes.

If you aren’t used to physical activity, an hour of aerobics will give you mussel pain that’s going to torture you for days. But do you know what would cure that mussel pain? More physical activity.

Every change is painful at the beginning. If it wasn’t painful we wouldn’t stay away from it for so long and it wouldn’t improve us.

Unfortunately, you won’t wake up one day and effortlessly have the perfect morning routine ever. It requires you to go against yourself because that’s how you will grow.

See it as paying the price for future success, the sacrifice you will have to make.

You create your successful morning routine and then your routine. will create you.

Can you do it?
