Back in the day, I was the worst at keeping a routine. It’s not like I didn’t try a million times to keep myself in check and follow a rigid schedule – it just didn’t do it for me.
And don’t get me started on trying to build new habits. I was always the “Monday person” because I swore my life would completely change when Monday rolled around – eating healthier, working out, waking up earlier, not using social media at work, yadda, yadda, yadda – you know the drill.
At some point, however, I realized – it’s all futile. No matter how hard I try, I would never achieve lasting success with my Monday mentality. While my intentions were good, my mentality about the issue was all wrong. Let me explain why…
Change isn’t something that magically happens to oneself. We need to actively put in the effort if we want to achieve it.
When you want something to turn into a habit, you need to push your brain to use power to accept it as such. And no, this doesn’t happen only on Mondays. It happens every day of the week if you are persistent.
My advice to you? Try to turn every day into a Monday. Don’t wait for an entire week to start changing. If you want to change, you should begin at this very minute.
