Tips To Get More Organized

Personal Organization

  1. Write everything down: Keep a notebook or digital app for jotting down tasks, ideas, and reminders.
  2. Develop a morning routine: Start your day with a consistent and productive routine.
  3. Plan your future goals: Set short-term and long-term goals and review them regularly. Include this in your end-of-month reflection routine.
  4. Use a planner: Track your daily, weekly, and monthly tasks in a planner. It can be any type of planner, including a simple notebook.
  5. Declutter your space: Remove unnecessary items from your living and working areas. Find a home for everything, create a home for it, or recycle/donate/throw it away.
  6. Create a vision board: Visualize your goals and aspirations by creating a vision board. Use these 50 vision board quotes to elevate your motivation.
  7. Set priorities: Identify your most important tasks and focus on them first. Use the Eisenhower matrix to prioritize tasks and ideas that need your attention.
  8. Establish a bedtime routine: Wind down with a relaxing routine to ensure a good night’s sleep. Grab my cozy evening routine printable to help you through the process.
  9. Break tasks into smaller steps: Tackle big projects by breaking them into manageable parts. If a task takes you longer than 2-5 minutes, you need to break it down even further (psst, that’s one of my secrets to overcoming stress).
  10. Review your day: Reflect on your accomplishments and areas for improvement each evening.

Time Management

  1. Set deadlines: Assign deadlines to tasks to stay on track. Holding yourself accountable is crucial for getting your life together.
  2. Use a timer: Work in focused intervals using techniques like Pomodoro.
  3. Limit distractions: Create a distraction-free workspace. Set your phone to silent, disable notifications, and don’t listen to podcasts or watch videos as a background. If you truly need background noise (sometimes, I do), find an ASMR video that soothes and calms you. My favorite ones are “paper sounds”.
  4. Batch similar tasks: Group similar tasks together to increase efficiency. This is a full guide on how to batch tasks together.
  5. Use time-blocking: Allocate specific time blocks for different activities. See my TikTok video below on how I time-block my days when I need to add structure to my life.
  6. Delegate tasks: Assign tasks to others when possible.
  7. Prioritize important tasks: Tackle high-priority tasks first. Eat your frog or use the Ivy Lee method to set your priorities for the day and have clarity on what to do next.
  8. Plan your week on Sunday: Outline your weekly tasks every Sunday. If you don’t do weekly reflections, it’s time you give them a chance.
  9. Schedule breaks: Take regular breaks to avoid burnout. Drink a glass of water, open the windows, go out for five minutes, stretch yourself, look far, take a few really deep breaths, make yourself a healthy snack, do eye exercises, chat with a colleague… there are so many ways you can use those 5-10 breaks that are better than scrolling on social media.
  10. Set reminders: Use alarms or apps to remind you of important tasks and appointments. You don’t have to remember everything; you need to write everything down and set systems for yourself.
