Do affirmations increase confidence?
Can a simple sentence actually make you confident and boost your self-worth and self-esteem?
Could positive words change the way you see yourself and the way you interact with yourself?
The last question is actually more of an answer, isn’t it?
Affirmations for self-confidence are short sentences with positive meaning that are designed to boost self-belief and increase self-worth. By repeating them regularly, you program your unconsciousness to act in a specific desired way instead of following the old self-destructive path. It takes a while, but positive thinking and positive affirmations work.

How To Deal With Love Self-Esteem and Lack of Confidence?
The way we are raised directly affects how we see ourselves for the better part of our lives. By the time we fix our self-confidence and personality issues, most of us have already piled up some failures caused by the lack of self-esteem.
And it doesn’t matter if your parents (or society) did it unintentionally; the result is painful, limiting, and requires us to work hard to fix … well, ourselves.

Why Is Self-Confidence So Important?
The way you dress, the way you talk, the way you give and receive love, the way you talk to your boss, to a stranger, to your parents, your best friend, or yourself… The way you look at yourself in the mirror, the way you perceive your goals and approach every hurdle life throws at you… it is all affected (more or less) by your confidence.
Your self-esteem could set you free or sabotage you and keep you in a brown box for the rest of your life.
And this isn’t something new for you. You already know all that, yet, the question is how to fix it.
The Real Struggle With Self-Confidence is Not What You Think It Is
Self-confidence is a skill and not something we are born with. Therefore, the skill of being confident gets built throughout our childhood and could be re-built throughout adulthood. Some traumas are deeper than others, but it all requires some work, discipline, and self-belief…
And this is where most of us stop. That last bit – self-belief, is the real struggle with building up confidence. To do anything in life, we require some belief (more or less) that it is possible to happen. Approaching any situation and trying to solve it requires an open mind and self-trust that solving it is indeed possible.
Self-trust and belief in one’s own capabilities is actually a branch of the confidence tree we grow in our minds. They are so intertwined that it is impossible to realize which one comes first.
It is fair to say that self-confidence boosts self-belief and vice versa – self-trust is, in fact, confidence in ourselves. So, how do we approach this? How to get out of the vicious circle of lacking both self-belief and self-esteem.
This is where I will invite you to give a chance to a few affirmations for self-confidence.
How to Use Affirmations For Confidence?

Here’s the thing…
Your brain doesn’t make a difference between reality and imagination. It’s been proven in so many studies (one of which is this one) that it’s easy to accept. But that’s not all. This fact also frees our minds and sets a new line of questions in front of us that make life more interesting.
If our brain doesn’t distinguish reality from imagination, are we living in reality or our imagination?
If our reality affects our imagination, could we use imagination to affect reality?
That’s what the Law of Attraction is based on, right? It’s all about the power of imagination that works through our neurological paths creating new chemical reactions that change our reality. Changing our thoughts, expectations and actions creates further consequences (the butterfly effect) and moves the same pieces differently, eventually creating a new game itself (the game called life). If you’d like to have a deeper understanding of this, I suggest you get this book. Since I am not a scientist, I could only go thus far.
The Power of Affirmations
The cells in your body always listen and record every information you give them or your brain records. That would mean that the way you act today is an already established path your brain recorded in the past, and your mind follows in the present. (source)
The more you repeat your reaction to a situation, the more established and fast would that reaction be.
For example, if people in your office keep asking you to help them with their projects and you keep agreeing to do so, you create an established reaction to their request for your help. Even if you feel overwhelmed and stressed with your work, the next time a colleague approaches you to help him, you will be surprised how fast you will agree to it. And it’s not because you cannot say no, but because you practiced saying yes for too long.
Knowing all that, affirmations are just a simple tool you want to use to rewrite the way your mind sees your reality but change it first in your imagination. If you start playing a few scenarios in your mind of refusing to work on another project for someone else, you will give your brain an option to pull out when the next request comes.
Yes, it takes some work and time, but that is why you reach out to affirmations. They give you the confidence and the pinch of self-belief that you are capable of taking a different path.

How to use them?
There are so many different ways to use these affirmations, and I will try to mention most of them:
- Repeat them in the morning before getting up from bed;
- Repeat them while going through your morning, while making your coffee, brushing your teeth or taking your morning shower;
- Write them down in your journal many times regularly;
- Repeat them out loud for a few minutes whenever possible throughout the day;
- Repeat them silently in your mind while walking outside. That is usually the time we love to criticize ourselves – cut it off and do something more self-loving instead.
- Meditate over the affirmation;
The one thing I always advise people when using my affirmations is to actually not use them… Let me explain.
The 30 affirmations for self-esteem below are awesome and great options if you just start using affirmations. However, they reflect the way I see the world and the way I believe you see it. They cannot fully match your reality and needs at the moment but only brush on them. So, I strongly recommend you combine a few of them, tweak them, and turn them into your own masterpieces. Maybe some of the words don’t resonate fully with you. Change them. Maybe they don’t fully cover everything you hope to achieve. Add more to them.
See these affirmations as a starting point and not an end product. That end product could be created by you only, and that’s what I encourage you to do.
Okay, I know what you need right now – those affirmations. Enjoy!

Conclusion on Affirmations for Self-Confidence
If there’s one thing I would really push you to accept is this: You are capable of changing your life, building up your self-confidence, and having a strong self-belief if you only give yourself a chance. Even if you feel like the affirmations don’t work, just give them some more time. It takes at least two to three weeks of daily repetitions for an affirmation to start soaking into your mind. And depending on how severe issues you battle, it could take even longer.
Combine the usage of affirmations with actively making good choices for yourself. Be mindful regarding how healthy you treat yourself and the boundaries you’ve put on others. Show some self-respect and ignore the negative self-talk. For example, whenever you talk negatively and bring yourself down, just switch to repeating some affirmations for a few minutes. They will instantly change your self-perception.
