5 Positive Ways To Start Your Day! EVERY Day

How To Have Positive Attitude Every Morning and Every Day

This is not a post on building morning routines! It’s better than that! This post will clarify the best positive ways to start your day. Every day!

Okay, you will hate me before the end of this post, and I can’t do anything to change that.

You know that annoying person in your life who keeps talking of how amazing their life is just because they learned to wake up at 5 a.m., and now nothing can stop them from doing it for the rest of their life?

I am that person, and I am so proud of myself.

Due to the different types of jobs I had in the past, I had the chance to experiment with waking up at 7:30 a.m. and at 2:30 a.m. (yep, that’s totally real, and I talk more about that morning routine here). Now, I stick to 5 a.m., and I love it.

And today, I will share why you want to do the same if you want to feel good in the mornings and wake up feeling positive.

I will share some secret positive ways to start your day and stay in the happy zone for most of your mornings.

I understand you want to know the answers of these questions:

  • Why do you wake up feeling grumpy, drowsy, exhausted, and then feel sleepy all day long?
  • How to start off your day in a positive way, and why can’t this happen every single morning of your life?
  • How to have positive thoughts in the morning and allow them to make your day better?

Your Positive Morning Attitude Starts The Night Before

Let me be that girl with the cliché and tell you that your morning starts from the day before.

I will explain.

How Many Hours of Sleep Do You Actually Need to Start Your Day in a Positive Way?

We all have different needs when it comes to sleep, and while most people are okay with 6 hours of sleep every night, that would exhaust others and cause sleep deprivation over a long period of time.

General fatigue, mood changes, difficulty focusing, and remembering stuff are just a few sleep deprivation symptoms. If you are a mom, you most likely are sleep deprived, and your options are probably limited. Come back to this post in a few years.

Just joking. Smile.

When my sister had her children, her husband was looking after them every weekend in the mornings so my sister could catch up on some precious hours. Talk over this option with your spouse.

Sleep deprivation affects your immune system, causes hormonal imbalance, and reduces your ability to pay attention to what’s happening around you.

Simply put, you need your zzz hours, or you will never lay the base of being positive every day.

How Does Your Sleep Quality Affect Your Positivity?

The second crucial part of starting your day with a positive attitude is to make sure that you don’t just have long sleep hours but also look after your sleep quality.

Does that mean that even nine hours of sleep wouldn’t be enough to put you in a good mood if your sleep quality is compromised?

Absolutely.

There are a few crucial components of assuring your sleep quality is as good as it could get.

  • No phone at least an hour before going to bed – the rule is 2 hours, but who could do that?
  • No fatty (or any) food at least 2 hours before going to sleep.
  • Many people love drinking camomile or mint tea before going to bed, but that would mean using the bathroom a few times at night, so I never actually do that. On the other hand, my fiancé always drinks water just before going to sleep and never gets up at night, so I guess it’s up to how your body functions. Decide for yourself on this one.
  • Don’t go to your bed unless you are tired and ready to sleep. Many types of research show that we should use our bedroom for one thing only and that’s sleep. We shouldn’t snack, watch TV, work or do anything else there but sleep. In this way, we teach our body to fall asleep faster once we get under those soft bedsheets.
  • If you are stressed and can’t fall asleep, try journaling to relieve whatever keeps your mind busy at the moment.

What Determines Your Mood In The Morning?

Now that we had a good sleep, we ensured it’s not just 5-6 hours, and we are ready to wake up feeling positive…

Is there a secret way to wake up feeling happy and have a positive attitude every morning?

Yes!

I believe there’s one crucial thing that could bring morning positivity into your days for the rest of your life and I am not exaggerating.

It’s not a secret and probably that’s why everyone ignores it.

Have a good reason to wake up!

That’s it.

Have a good reason to wake up. Have passion. Have something you look forward to.

I usually give an example here. I ask you how fast will you jump out of bed tomorrow morning if you knew you must catch a flight to your most favorite world destination.

I bet you will barely sleep and then rush through everything just to make sure you are on that plane to…

Well, we don’t always fly to nice destinations (or at all lately), but it’s a great example of how important the events of the next day are to your morning attitude.

You want to live a life you enjoy. If you make sure you work on your dreams, goals and have a few good reasons to smile, then you’ll never worry about waking up positive. You will just do it.

I am aware it sounds easier than it is, but that shouldn’t discourage you.

I can honestly say I have great reasons to wake up every morning, and I still have days of barely crawling out of bed (even if it is at 5 a.m.) However, few minutes into the day, I am bright and ready to rock it in the best way possible.

How do you make sure you have the inspiration to start your day positively?

You look forward to something. And that could be anything:

  • An exciting event in the day;
  • A new book to start reading;
  • Calling an old friend;
  • Starting a new habit or working on developing such;
  • Good yummy and healthy breakfast;
  • Trying new things (anything);
  • Working on your own business;
  • Working on growing in your workplace;
  • Having a positive intention from the previous evening;
  • Stealing an hour for yourself only…

As you can see, there are many big and small reasons to wake up feeling motivated to start your day positively.

I would like to tap on the last one a bit more.

I recently realized that one of the best reasons most people with big families wake up early in the morning is that they actually get to be by themselves for a full hour.

The beauty of “nobody needs me for an hour” is mesmerizing and also leads to “I need nobody but me for this hour”.

Waking up earlier than everyone will be a game-changer for you if you need to look after children, help your spouse, attend to your parents, please your boss, and whoever else message you through the day.

I know it’s hard to start, but if you stick to it for a few weeks, you will be that weird person who can’t shut their mouth about the benefits of getting up early every day.

Switch Up Your Morning Routine

Okay, I know this isn’t a post about morning routines, and if you’d like to dig deeper into building a morning routine, I have tons of juicy info here, on this blog.

On top of that, you already have a morning routine, no matter if you like it or not.

But what if you have built your morning routine in a way that ticks all the boxes, but still wonder how to start your days in a positive way?

I had this issue a while ago. I was journaling, meditating, doing yoga, having healthy breakfast (sort of) and doing all the right things… until the point when they didn’t put me in a good mood anymore.

And I realized…

We are told to have a productive and healthy morning routine, to stick to it… but nobody tells us that even if we love it, it could still have a negative effect on us.

Because we don’t enjoy it.

You want to develop a morning routine, but that doesn’t mean you should do the same thing every morning for the rest of your life.

In fact, I encourage you to switch it up every few days. Keep modifying it even if you feel comfortable and used to it.

The idea of having a morning routine isn’t only to prepare you for the day! Your morning routine should inspire you, encourage you, motivate you and fit within your needs. And your needs change often. You change.

Just because you enjoy journaling, it doesn’t mean you should journal every morning. You might want to do it three times this week and four next week. That’s still great.

Focus on a morning routine that makes you happy and brings positivity into your life. It doesn’t matter how it will look, but how it will feel.
